Education: Michael J. Bergmann graduated from St. Xavier High School (1975); Miami University (Oxford)--B.A. in History/Minor in Business (1979); and University of Cincinnati Law School--J.D. (1982).
Professional Employment: Since 1982, Mr. Bergmann has been practicing law in Ohio. For the first fifteen years of Mr. Bergmann’s practice, he worked for two prestigious Downtown Cincinnati law firms which gave him the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skill, and experience in his areas of practice--Business Formations; Business, Construction and Real Estate Transactions; Estate Planning; Probate of Estates; Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Claims; and Claim, Dispute, and Litigation Representation.
In January 1999, Mr. Bergmann founded the law firm of Michael J. Bergmann, LLC. More about the firm can be learned in the "About the Firm" and "Areas of Practice" pages of this web site.
Professional Privileges: Mr.Bergmann is admitted to practice before all of Ohio's state courts, several federal trial courts, and the U.S. Appellate Court for the Sixth Circuit.
Professional Affiliations: Mr. Bergmann has been a career-long member of the Ohio State and Cincinnati Bar Associations. He has also been a past member of the American Bar Association and Allied Construction Industries ("ACI"), an association of construction contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Since 1998, Mr. Bergmann has also been a member of the Greater Cincinnati Estate Planning Council, an organization of prominent estate, financial, and investment planners formed to give its members opportunities to exchange planning ideas with other professionals, and to learn sophisticated techniques from regional and nationally-known guest speakers.
Professional Achievements: In 2008 and 2010, Mr. Bergmann was recognized as a "Five-Star Wealth Advisor" based on a survey of more than 65,000 Cincinnatians and several thousand local estate, financial , and investment planning professionals, and a final determination by a "Blue-Ribbon" multi-discipline committee. The criteria for selection included, among other things, the survey recipients' perception of the selected candidate's knowledge of his/her practice area, the value of his/her services, and his/her ethics record.
Public Service: In the past, Mr. Bergmann has served as a participant in the "Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor" program, an arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange and the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, a member of several ad hoc committees serving the Green Township Board of Trustees (Hamilton County, Ohio), and a Trustee for a local charity.
Also, Mr. Bergmann has spoken and written articles on topics within his practice areas for the general public and many professional, trade, fraternal, civic, and religious organizations, on numerous occasions.
Personal Life: Mr. Bergmann and his wife Judy are the proud parents of six children and are active in their school and extra-curricular activities. Mr. Bergmann has also served his church, community, and youth athletic organizations in various capacities.
